Questions

How It Works

  • Do I need a custom frame if I already have an electric opener?

Not always, but the gate weight, size, and balance must match the opener’s rated capacity. A frame that is too heavy or out of alignment causes repeat motor strain. If the existing gate sags, drags, or misses the latch, a custom frame built to the opener’s specs is usually the cleaner fix.

  • What happens if I delay replacing a rusted or warped gate frame?

A warped frame puts side-load on the hinge and opener arm every cycle. That accelerates bearing wear and can crack the arm mount. Denver’s freeze-thaw cycles worsen the warp each winter, so a frame that is borderline now is likely to fail completely by spring.

  • Is it better to repair a bent frame or replace it?

A small alignment issue can sometimes be corrected on-site. A frame that is badly rusted, cracked, or warped past square needs replacement. If the gate has needed repeated adjustment after wind, use, or freezing weather, replacement is the more cost-effective path.

  • What should I know before ordering a custom driveway gate?

Have the opening width, post spacing, and slope ready. Know whether you want swing or slide configuration and which opener model is in use. Material choice, steel, wrought iron, or aluminum, affects both weight and corrosion resistance, so that decision is made before fabrication begins.

  • Will the custom frame work with my existing posts and hinges?

Existing posts and hinges are assessed before fabrication. If the posts are undersized or the hinges are rated below the new frame weight, that is flagged in the initial scope so hardware can be replaced at the same time, not discovered after the frame arrives.
